Art Therapist FT

Location: Phoenix, AZ

About our Art Therapist position:

The Art Therapist will primarily provide individual, family and group art therapy in a supportive art studio environment using art therapy techniques and methods. This position will be working with youth.

We are looking for an individual with the following skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate art related groups and classes.
  • Group process and group facilitation.
  • Provision of recreational and social activities, life skills training and/or milieu activities.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans within the framework of a clinical team.
  • Develop groups that will address skills deficits through specific content and focus.
  • Can promote client responsibility, mastery and to recognize symptom exacerbation.
  • Creative, energetic, flexible and to serve as a healthy role model for participants.
  • Ability to provide behavior management and activity supervision
Location: Resilient Health - 23rd Avenue Youth & Family @ 8152 N. 23d Ave., Stes. A & B,  Phoenix, AZ 85021 

Education/Experience:
  • Experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services to youth participants and their families preferred.
  • Eligible for Associate or Independent level of licensure by Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
  • Master’s degree in art therapy, counseling, social work, psychology or related human service field or Art Therapist certificate.
  • Certification as an expressive arts therapist or art therapist ATR-BC or ATR under current supervision by art therapist certified in Arizona.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Knowledge of:

  • Behavioral health assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Expressive and therapeutic arts principles and methods
  • Principles and methods of psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Special needs and characteristics of the client population.
  • Counseling principles and methods.
  • Methods used to prevent violent behavior or behavior harmful to the client or others.
  • How to provide behavior management in crisis situations.
  • Indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications commonly used by the client population.
  • Where to access resources for assistance.
  • How to document client activities and progress according to accepted professional and agency standards.
